From 1995 onwards, contracts with Red Bull and PETRONAS provided a solid foundation that permitted the Swiss team to establish itself firmly in the Formula 1 scene.
The way from the mid-field to the vanguard chasing the top was paved by the technical partnership agreement with Ferrari, which came into effect in 1997. Since that year, PETRONAS has been the team's engine partner, supplying the ten-cylinder power units built in Maranello.
Nevertheless, the breakthrough was still a while away - roughly four years. But then the team's Formula 1 history saw three pinnacles following each other in rapid succession: the partnership with the large Swiss bank, Credit Suisse, concluded in 2001; the fourth place in the Constructors' Championship locked in by mid-October of that year; and, only a few days later, the ground-breaking ceremony for the team's own wind tunnel.
